Mobile Upper Respiratory Infection (URI) Care
Upper respiratory infections (URIs) such as bronchitis, sinus infections, and severe colds are extremely common illnesses in adults. While for most people these conditions are easy to manage, for more vulnerable populations, these illnesses can become much more severe. These include older adults, patients who suffer from chronic lung disease, patients who are post-surgery, those living in nursing homes, and more. A minor infection in these populations can escalate to much more severe ailments, including pneumonia and even life-threatening issues.
At Heritage Wound Care, we understand the importance of early and specialized intervention. Our mobile care model allows patients to receive the care they need from their home or living facility in a timely manner. This means we can provide outstanding URI care from where a patient is most comfortable.
Why Mobile URI Care is Essential
URI can worsen quickly, particularly in patients who have weakened immune systems, diabetes, COPD, or heart conditions. Some patients have limited access to care and are unable to travel due to these (and other) conditions. This makes visiting urgent care extremely difficult. In turn, once things get bad enough, patients may end up needing to visit the emergency room and even stay for an extended period of time in a hospital.
Mobile upper respiratory infection care helps to eliminate this issue by sending specialized clinicians directly to the patient. The team at Heritage Wound Care provides evaluation, testing, and treatment in a timely manner, thereby reducing the risk of the infection escalating.
Our Approach to URI Management
Whether we are working in conjunction with a medical staff, in-home caregivers, or directly with a patient, we make sure to provide outstanding services in a structured and collaborative environment.
If a URI is suspected, we begin our process with an on-site evaluation. We assess symptoms that include coughing, congestion, shortness of breath, fever, and other concerns to get a better understanding of the underlying issue the patient is facing, while also taking a look at the patient’s medical history to better understand risk factors. If there is additional testing required (such as X-rays or lab work), we coordinate with a facility to arrange comprehensive tests with a quick turnaround.
From there, a treatment plan is created and communicated with the patient and/or provider. We will then begin treatment. This may include medications, breathing treatments, and other services intended to meet the exact needs of the patient. We will also provide prevention instructions to better ensure the issue doesn’t return in the future.
Integration with the Care Team
The goal of Heritage Wound Care is not to replace existing providers—it is to partner with them to provide the best results possible for the patient. We are able to coordinate with physicians, nurses, and caregivers to ensure care is seamless and not duplicated.
When it comes to nursing homes and rehab centers, we provide additional infection-management support for staff. As for the home environment, we work with home-health agencies to ensure consistent communication.
Hospital and long-term acute care facilities often rely on our team to extend care into the post-discharge setting. This prevents patients from having to return to the hospital for conditions that could have been managed earlier on.
We also send timely updates and treatment notes to primary care providers, specialists, and facility administrators to ensure they are kept in the loop.

Who Benefits from Mobile URI Care?
URIs can affect people of any age. With that said, mobile specialty care is particularly helpful for:
- Seniors living in nursing homes and assisted living facilities
- Those with mobility challenges
- Patients with chronic respiratory conditions (such as COPD or asthma)
- Those recovering from serious illnesses or injuries
- Patients who have experienced prolonged and/or repeated respiratory infections
For patients with these concerns, receiving bedside care can mean the difference between safe recovery and hospitalization.
Support for Patients and Families
Respiratory infections can be difficult for both patients and their families. There is the worry of escalation, the development of pneumonia, and even hospitalization. Our expert team ensures that not only do patients receive the best care possible, but also reassurance.
During each visit, we educate patients and their families about what is going on, what symptoms to look out for, how to manage symptoms, and when to seek further treatment. We also teach them about prevention. Along with all of this, we provide compassionate care, allowing patients and their families to feel at ease throughout the process.
Why Heritage for URI Care?
Heritage Wound Care has a proven track record that demonstrates how effective our model of care is. We are able to replicate the same quality of care for patients, no matter where they are located. Whether it be at home, in a facility, or anywhere else, we offer patients the same outstanding level of care they can expect from the team at Heritage Wound Care.
Our team is also able to provide a unique combination of collaboration, timeliness, and compassion. We don’t replace the existing providers of patients, but instead work with them to provide the best outcomes for patients possible. Our quick response time allows for care when it is needed, and our emphasis on ongoing health helps to prevent any URIs from returning.
Most importantly, the Heritage Wound Care model is built around patients and their unique needs. We ensure they get the best support possible, while also focusing on comfort, dignity, and positive outcomes.
